Owa Obokun of Ijesaland lied, I didn’t lease out my palace to illegal miners – Atagunmodi

A traditional ruler in Atakunkosa West Local Government Area of Osun state, the Atagunmodi of Itagunmodi, Oba Michael Famadewa-Kosile has denied allegation made by the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Adekunle Aromolaran that Atagunmodi rented a section of his palace for illegal miners in his domain domain.
The monarch said he only leased out his mansion to some Chinese miners who were introduced to him by Oba Aromolaran.
He said he was shocked that Oba Aromolaran could lie against him saying he has never supported illegal mining going on in his domain as alleged by the Ilesa monarch.
Oba Famadewa-Kosile made this known on Monday while addressing journalists at the Osun NUJ Correspondents’ Chapel in Osogbo.
Showing our correspondent copies of some documents showing that he truly owned the said private building he leased out, Oba Fadadewa-Kosile said he would never desecrate his palace by housing illegal miners.
The monarch warned Oba Aromolaran against dragging his name and repute to the mud saying he had lamented the influx of illegal miners in his domain but the state did nothing about it.
Recall that Oba Aromolaran had alleged that Atagunmodi rented a section of his palace to illegal miners and had practically packed out of his palace and had been living in Ilesa.
The Ilesa king made this known while addressing the governor and other authorities in the state during a stakeholders meeting on illegal mining in Ilesa recently.
