Teenager remanded in correctional centre over possession of sack of Indian hemp

A Magistrate’s court sitting in Osogbo, capital of Osun state, has remanded a 19-year-old boy, Lateef Adekunle in Ilesa correctional centre for allegedly possessing huge quantity  of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.
The teenager was arraigned on two count-charge bothering on breach of peace and possession of wraps of marijuana.
According to the police, the offence is contrary to and punishable under section 249(d) of the Criminal Code Cap 38c, Laws of Osun state.
The prosecutor, Idowu Rachael, stated that accused person committed the crime on November 4,2019 at Owode market, Okuku, Osun state.
The accused person pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The presiding magistrate, Mrs Risikat Olayemi ordered that the boy be taken to correctional centre in Ilesa.
She transferred the case to Okuku magistrate’s court and the case is to be mentioned on November 14, 2019.
