The Paramount ruler of Ijesaland, Oba Adekunle Aromolaran, Owa Obokun of Ijesaland has disclosed how some traditional rulers aid and abet illegal mining in some affected areas in Osun state.
The monarch claimed that one of the traditional rulers in Ijesaland leased out a section of his palace to illegal miners to reside in exchange for huge financial reward.
Oba Aromolaran said a traditional rulers, the Loja of Itagunmodi, a community situated outskirts of Ilesa, is culpable in this act.
He said Loja of Itagunmodi leased out a section of his palace to illegal miners and moved to Ilesa to live.
Oba Aromolaran disclosed this at a State security sensitization meeting with Stakeholders in Ife/Ijesa Zone at Zenababs Half Moon Resort, Ijebu-Jesa Road, Ilo-Ayegunle, Ilesa on Tuesday.
He therefore called on the state government to protect the people of the state from kidnappings and other criminal activities in the state.
The monarch also asked residents to be vigilant.
