Sports Development: Osun sports journalists reward Dotun Babayemi with merit award

 
The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria SWAN, Osun State chapter has bestowed a Meritorious Gold Award of Excellence in Grassroots Sports Development on a Sports philanthropist and a prince of Gbongan in Ayedaade Local Government, Prince Dotun Babayemi, for his unrelenting investment and support for sports development. 
Presenting the award  to Babayemi, Chairman, Sports Writers Association of Nigeria SWAN, Osun State chapter, Adeyemi Aboderin, described the Chief Executive Officer of  Fort Knox as a thoroughbred, who has continued to pursue one of the cardinal positions of SWAN, which is development of sports. 
Supported by other executive members of SWAN that include Tajudeen Ahmad, Joseph Atewe, Ibrahim Akinokun, Femi Oriyomi among others, they all thumbed up for Prince  Babayemi for the huge investment in grassroots sports. 
In the final of the Second edition of Prince Dotun Babayemi Youth Football Competition among youth football teams in Osun West Senatorial District,Rovet FC of Iwo defeated  Hon.Shakor FC of Ede by 3-0.
All the goals came via the boot of their prolific striker, Nurudeen Aremu.
Earlier, in the third place match, Al-Imam FC of Iwo defeated  TJ FC of Ikire by 3-1.
The winner of the competition, Root FC went home with a prize of #500,000 while the runners up, Shakor FC of Ede went home with  #300,000.Al-Imam,which won the classification match were awarded #250,000 cash. 
In his remark, the Sponsor of the competition, Prince Dotun  Babayemi said that the main purpose of the  competition  was to contribute his quota to the development of grassroots sports, tap the hidden talents and nurture them to stardom. 
He described sports as a  veritable avenue for jobs creation, promising to continue to invest in  this manner to raise the standard. 
Trophies and medals were later awarded to the teams.
